Monday 27th January - walk **** - Orwell Country Park – mainly cloudy.

I was tempted to go foiling again today but checked the forecast and it said it was going to rain and getting colder for a few days but later in the week and into the new month look very promising for a windsurf so decided to give today a miss. Then windsurfing mate messaged me and said I could borrow his brand-new foiling board while he is away in the Canaries, an offer too good to miss – brave man! So, stayed in Felixstowe in the morning doing my exercises and repairing a battern in my 7m sail, then made a sandwich, ordered two tyres for our van, poor pension takes another battering and then headed to Orwell Country Park on the outskirts of Ipswich for a walk. We turned left for a change and had a pleasant stroll through the woods, mainly pine but there were some very old oaks down near the river! Even in todays cloudy gloom it is very pretty down here and we arrived by the river exactly at high water and there were even a few yachts out sailing despite the wind being fairly light. The impressive Orwell Bridge was the backdrop for our picnic spot on the tiny beach with the water lapping at our feet! After a top cheese roll and yummy homemade flapjack but got a bit chilly so continued along the river under the Orwell Bridge and up along the footpath by the side of the very noisy A 14 and back to the van. So a nice couple of hours in the fresh hour followed by a quick spin around B & M and with time to spare had a quick visit to my Dad before heading over to Visit Andy.
